USDT Integration with TON Blockchain

Explore the exciting world of USDT on The Open Network (TON)! Enjoy lightning-fast transactions, super low fees, and seamless integration. Discover how TON is revolutionizing stablecoin transfers.

As of October 21, 2025, the integration of Tether’s USDT stablecoin with The Open Network (TON) blockchain represents a significant development in the cryptocurrency landscape. This collaboration, involving Tether, the TON Foundation, and Telegram, aims to facilitate low-cost and seamless USDT payments directly within the Telegram ecosystem, effectively making crypto transactions as simple as sending a text message.

What is TON?

TON, originally developed by Nikolai Durov, is a decentralized Layer-1 blockchain. It offers a range of services beyond simple cryptocurrency transactions, including:

  • TON Storage: Provides private, encrypted data storage utilizing the owner’s wallet private key.
  • TON Proxy: Enables access to the TON blockchain through decentralized VPNs, leveraging all platform components.
  • TON DNS: A decentralized naming system allowing traditional websites to function within the TON network using short, readable names.

The Integration of USDT

Tether, the issuer of USDT (the world’s largest stablecoin by market capitalization), has expanded its support to include native USDT functionality on the TON blockchain. This means users can now transact in USDT directly on the TON network. The value of USDT in circulation is substantial, matching or exceeding the value of many other cryptocurrencies.

Benefits of USDT on TON

The integration offers several key advantages:

  • Low Costs: Transactions are designed to be low-cost, making it practical for everyday use.
  • Seamless Integration with Telegram: The close relationship with Telegram allows for easy access and use of USDT within the messaging app.
  • Jetton-Based Implementation: USDT on TON operates as a jetton based on a stablecoin contract.

Supported Exchanges and Blockchains

Bitfinex currently supports USDt deposits across 18 blockchains and withdrawals across 15. While Phantom wallet does not directly support the TON blockchain, users can bridge USDT from a TON wallet to networks supported by Phantom, such as Ethereum, SPL, or Polygon.

Important Note: As of the current date, Coinbase only supports USDT on the Ethereum blockchain (ERC-20).

Conversion Rates

The current USDT to TON conversion rate fluctuates, but as of today, it is approximately 0.45 USDT per 1 TON. Conversely, 1 TON is equivalent to approximately 2.22 USDT.

Upcoming Changes and Considerations

Tether is also expanding USDT support to other blockchains, including RGB (a protocol for issuing digital assets on Bitcoin) and is developing its own blockchain, Plasma, aimed at offering zero-fee USDT transfers.

Important Update: After September 1, 2025, USDT redemptions and transfers will no longer be supported on Omni, SLP, Algorand, Kusama, and EOS. Users are advised to utilize Tether’s platform or supported exchanges to move their USDT to active blockchains.

LayerZero and Cross-Chain Capabilities

TON’s integration with LayerZero is crucial for connecting the TON network to the broader USDT ecosystem, enhancing its cross-chain functionality.

The TON Foundation has also secured significant venture capital funding, exceeding $400 million from investors like Sequoia and Ribbit, indicating strong confidence in the network’s future.
